(Formerly Cars By Chris)
Welcome to the creative process. Here, I will show you how all the magic happens, step by step.
Step one: Using photos of the actual car and/or alternate reference material, a penciled illustration is created and details finalized.
Step two: The base color of the car is added. No going back now!
Step three: A darker version of the base color is added for reflections and shadows.
Step four: Now I add black to the deep shadows, tires, grille, vents and even the side window gets a little.
Step five: Here I've added some gray to the interior and wheel centers. A bit of color is added to some chrome parts to give the illusion of blue sky above.
Step six: The owner, Bob Green, wanted similar backgrounds over several future renderings. I came up with an idea that could be simple and yet unique to each vehicle.
Step seven: Here I add background color and airbrush some color onto the windows. This makes them look more reflective and "glass-like".
Step eight: Out come the colored pencils to fine tune lines and make reflections pop more off the page. The wheels really stand out now! I finally got to the side stripes too...
Step nine: The final part is white paint to show sun reflections and shine up some chrome areas. DONE! Now we just need a signature......
